Welcome to our dedicated space honoring Lord Dhanvantari, the primordial Hindu god of Ayurveda and the divine physician of the universe. An avatar of Lord Vishnu, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the cosmic Churning of the Ocean (Samudra Manthan) holding the Kalasha filled with Amrita — the nectar of immortality.
He brought the eternal science of medicine to the world to eradicate suffering and grant longevity.
In Sri Lanka, the legacy of Lord Dhanvantari bridges ancient Vedic wisdom with our island's rich heritage of Indigenous Medicine (Hela Vedakam) and Deshiya Chikitsa. For centuries, traditional physicians (Veda Mahathmayas), Ayurvedic doctors, and seekers of wellness across Sri Lanka have invoked the blessings of Lord Dhanvantari before preparing herbal remedies or diagnosing ailments. He represents the ultimate source of holistic healing — balancing body, mind, and spirit through the pure elements of nature.
Lord Dhanvantari is traditionally depicted as a majestic, four-armed divine being clad in bright yellow robes, radiating a calm, healing aura:
• The Amrita Kalasha: The golden pot containing the nectar of immortality and absolute health.
• Medicinal Herbs: Representing the infinite healing power found in nature's flora.
• The Conch (Shankha) & Discus (Chakra): Symbols of his cosmic identity as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, purifying the environment of negative energies.
